The Iranian Embassy in India on Wednesday highlighted remarks by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Rafael Grossi, stating that the agency has found no evidence that Iran is working to develop nuclear weapons.

In a post on X, the Embassy quoted Grossi as saying, “What we reported was that we did not have any proof of a systematic effort (by Iran) to move toward a nuclear weapon.” The statement was part of an interview aired by Iranian Press TV featuring Grossi’s comments to CNN.

Grossi’s remarks come amid rising concerns and conflicting reports. Over the weekend, Israeli media cited intelligence sources claiming Iranian scientists had made significant progress in nuclear weapon design, placing Tehran potentially weeks away from developing a bomb. The report stated that Israeli intelligence described this as “golden information” and used it to justify recent preemptive strikes against Iran.

Amid the intensifying Israel-Iran conflict, the United States reiterated its firm stance on the issue. US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce reaffirmed President Donald Trump’s position, saying, “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon… This has been clear since the President took office.”

The geopolitical crisis has entered its sixth day, with both Israel and Iran exchanging missile attacks. On Wednesday, explosions were reported over Tel Aviv following an alleged missile strike from Iran. Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant warned of targeting “very significant” sites in Tehran.

While tensions remain high, Grossi’s comments underscore the absence of verified evidence from the IAEA that Iran is actively pursuing nuclear arms, contrasting sharply with Israel’s concerns and military actions.
