Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached Madurai late Saturday evening to spearhead crucial organisational discussions with the Tamil Nadu BJP leadership. He is scheduled to chair a meeting of the party’s state core committee and interact with office bearers from state, district, and mandal levels.
Upon arrival, Shah was received by senior leaders including Tamilisai Soundararajan and BJP Tamil Nadu President Nainar Nagendran. In a post on social media platform X, Shah expressed enthusiasm about meeting party karyakartas, stating: “I am keen to meet the vibrant karyakartas of the @BJP4TamilNadu in various organisational programs scheduled for tomorrow.”
Before departing for Tamil Nadu, Shah also shared, “Tomorrow, will chair a meeting of the state core committee of the Tamil Nadu BJP, in Madurai. In the evening, will interact with state, district, and mandal-level office bearers… Looking forward to attending the programs.”
BJP leader Soundararajan noted that Shah’s visit had energised the cadre. “Whenever Union Home Minister Amit Shah comes, the DMK is jittery… His guidance will help us fight the elections very successfully in 2026,” she told ANI.
The visit comes as the BJP prepares for a stronger political footing in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced biennial Rajya Sabha polls for Tamil Nadu and Assam on June 19.
