India Launches Retaliatory Strikes After Pakistan Targets 26 Locations; LoC Tensions Soar

India mounted a swift and forceful retaliation on Saturday after Pakistan launched coordinated attacks on 26 Indian locations, significantly escalating tensions along the Line of Control (LoC), defence sources told ANI.

Intermittent cross-border firing continued throughout the day, with intense activity reported at multiple LoC sectors. Explosions and plumes of smoke were seen in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, particularly in the Dibber area, where a loud blast caused panic among residents.

In Rajouri, a series of explosions damaged homes and civilian property, while additional blasts were reported from Akhnoor, indicating widespread targeting across the region.

This latest escalation follows Pakistan’s repeated drone intrusions on Friday into Indian airspace across Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot sectors—prompting India’s earlier countermeasures.

In response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, India launched Operation Sindoor on Wednesday, successfully striking nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

India had already demonstrated its readiness during the night of May 7–8, when its Armed Forces neutralised a major Pakistani offensive involving drones and missiles targeting Indian military infrastructure across the Northern and Western regions. In a notable strike, India also disabled an air defence system inside Lahore.

With the situation rapidly evolving, Indian Defence Forces remain on high alert, continuing operations to deter further aggression while keeping civilian safety a top priority.
